ROADWORKS Reparto Corse Oli@oli.co.nz
After watching them roll out (and having a big job wrangling Bo!) we drove behind C Grade across the Eastern Bays earlier than overtaking them and B Grade as we drove to the top of the Wainui Hill. Corners that have monged me out for years were traversed (comparatively) elegantly as I realised that I used to be feeling no results of my concussion for the first time in weeks. I hit Lazy Fern feeling completely at one with my bike, relieved that I felt nice on the bike for the first time in weeks, and fizzing to open up the throttle a bit. I zoomed down this beautiful path by native bush and ponga fronds feeling the elation that solely a real endorphin rush can present. Luckily my front wheel dropped over the side of the path but I used to be able to fling out an outrigger and save my bike – oh, and myself.
After all of the excitement of the racing, Bo and that i drove back to town the place I dropped him back at dwelling and finally got to get to my Commençal construct! After being almost blown off the track once, I actually did get blown off on one of the final corners earlier than the highest. Saturday morning dawned lovely and my brand spanking new 2008 Commençal Meta 5.5 body was sitting there glistening within the spring sunshine, but I had different things to do earlier than I may get to grips with constructing it up. After assembly a number of barely startled folks riding up the suitable approach I parted ways with Alex as SA become Koru, deciding that it was better if there was solely considered one of us going the wrong way on uphill designated tracks. Bodhi and i left her there to promote her wares then went and did some purchasing and had some lunch in a cheap cafe before driving out to Eastbourne to observe the beginning of the primary ever Eastbourne-Wainuiomata PNP race. First, I needed to drag my venerable GT out and strip it down. First, I had to help Jacq take a few of her lovely hand-crafted books and child clothes as much as Berhampore School, the place she was taking part in her first correct craft present, The Knack.

As Al slowly pulled away from me I determined to make use of the time-tested tactic of pretending I was all concerning the photo ops – anything to take another pic of my beautiful new machine! The very first thing I observed was the lateral stiffness of the Meta 5 – vitality expended all gave the impression to be invested in ahead movement rather than flex and bobbing, thanks to great suspension design, and helped little doubt by the Fox RP23’s ProPedal feature. Plus Al knew I was itching to shake the Meta down on a trail I know effectively and may experience quick. All gadgets are shipped day by day from our HQ so your objects arrive tremendous quick as we know that’s necessary! We obtained to the summit in time to fulfill up with John’s lovely dad and mom and watch him comfortably roll over conserving the front of his bunch in sight with out losing precious power.
He’s immensely highly effective however after a disastrous (by his high requirements) earlier race he has shortly learned that the tactics and vitality demands of scratch road racing demand a distinct mindset than handicap racing. However, the bouncing up and down the road check proved that already I used to be dealing with a completely totally different beast to the GT – I was excited about the prospect of giving her a real blast! After trundling up Koru we rode Sally Alley to check out the work the Makara Peak Supporters had put into it final weekend – awesome! I determined that Koru and Lazy Fern can be the gig, because the bushes keep you completely out of the wind, so I put the bike on the back of the wagon and set off for Makara Peak. It’s not the the GT was a foul bike – far from it – however the fashionable design and superbly thought out crafting of the Commençal is so much better. I was enjoying the bike so much our unique plan of just doing Ridgeline Extension was bypassed by the desire to just carry on riding, so we decided to head down Missing Link and up Aratihi to the summit – so much for keeping out of the wind!
